A Fantastic Trip to Sealife

 Hi Reception Families,

We had a wonderful trip to Sea Life yesterday, the children were incredibly well behaved and we had a wonderful few years amongst the fish, penguins, seals, turtles and otters...

For those of you who weren't able to make it we really missed you. We currently have very high levels of illness, please see the recent advice regarding our Sickness and Diarrhea and Strep A policies.  It is important that children remain at home for the appropriate number of days after a period of illness as we have vulnerable members of the class.

Next week it is Sports Day on Tuesday EYFS is at 9:15 and you are warmly welcomed to join us. We also have Dance day on Friday afternoon.

Here are selection of photos from our lovely trip.

Important info for the week ahead

 Hi Reception Families,

Firstly we've had such a lovely week! With the weather being so good, we've spent lots of time playing outside.

This week we have been learning about fish, all the different types and where you can find them. We've loved reading fishy tales such as Rainbow Fish, Tiddler, and Commotion in the Ocean. The children even learnt a poem about a lobster!

Next week is a busy one!

We have  school photos on Tuesday please send children dressed in PE kit and school uniform with them and we will help them to change.

On Wednesday there is the whole school science fair, we are looking forward to seeing all the work children across the school have made at home. 3:00 in the hall.

Thursdays is our trip to Sealife, children can wear their own bottoms, but please ensure they have a shirt or jumper/ school uniform. Children will also need a named drinks bottle and hat. Please judge the weather nearer the time and ensure children as dressed appropriately.

Rekenreks, Penguins and fantastic science experiments

 Hi Reception Families,

What a busy first week back we've had. This week we have been learning all about penguins. I wonder if the children can tell you a penguin fact? This has been linked to our new text in English 'And Tango Makes Three.' This story will continue to be our focus for the next two weeks.

In Maths we introduced Rekenreks, I was really impressed with how quickly the children grasped the concept of using them. We will continue to practise with Rekenreks in readiness for using them in Year One.

In Understanding the Natural World we were learning all about the different types of animal homes, and in DT we started our Textile focus.

In SCARF our focus was on the seasons.

We had a brilliant trip to Thomas Hardye School on Friday morning and we conducted some brilliant science experiments.

Moving our attention to next week:

On Monday we have our Daubing session for the roundhouse, please ensure children have clothes that they can get messy and dirty in with them and something clean to change into.

On Thursday the class will have it's first Transition session with Miss White in Year One.

Maths: Comparison

Understanding the World: Whales and Shadows

English And Tango Makes Three.

SCARF: Life stages, plants, animals humans.

Please do get in touch if there is anything we can do to help.
