Reception - home learning and events.

James and the Giant Peach was a roaring success. The children were thoroughly engaged throughout the 50 minute performance and represented the school with outstanding behaviour and manners. Thank you to the Year 9 pupils at Leweston School, you have created a lasting special memory for our children and have further inspired their love of books. Thank you also to Leweston for hosting us, all the staff were very kind and accommodating.

The children also enjoyed a visit from Harold the giraffe in the Life Education Van on Friday. We continued our learning all about our bodies and keeping healthy. This will also be our topic until half term.

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the SRE parents information session on Tuesday.

We did not send home learning on Friday as I need the books to show our moderator this week, but do continue to read and also we had a big focus on subtraction. This will continue this week, so feel free to practise at home! We will also be having a creative focus, encouraging painting, colour mixing, exploring texture, creating songs and dances..............if you would like to do any of this at home, please feel free and send in the results for us to share!

This week we have a visiting Silver Band performance and  a Plastic Turtle drama to look forward to in addition to all our other exciting learning.

FYI, there will be a letter coming home regarding a beach trip during the second week back after half term.

See you all tomorrow!

Reception home learning, trip and parent information session. WC 6th May 2019

We hope you are all having a wonderful, long weekend?

We have thoroughly enjoyed our learning inspired by Handa's Surprise and Fatou Fetch the water. It has produced some excellent writing, speaking, maths, reading, humanities and creative opportunities. Children brought home their new home learning on Friday with their new RWInc book. We will be changing library books on a Thursday afternoon - please send in any you have at home, on a Thursday morning.

Thank you for all the effort and support you have put into the Easter Holiday home learning, it has clearly had a great impact on their learning and progress. You have managed to have lots of fun whilst bringing in learning opportunities to play and days out. This ensures that they have not lost skills they had before the 2 week holiday!

We are now on our third Roald Dahl novel - James and the Giant Peach. The children absolutely love these books and their attention, focus and comprehension skills are phenomenal! Ofcourse, we are VERY excited to be able to go and watch the story brought to life this week. Don't forget they will need to wear school uniform, bring a coat and a packed lunch in a back pack. If you have booked a hot dinner and not cancelled it, they will provide a packed lunch for your child on this day.

Tomorrow is our final parent information session, it will be held from 9:00 - 9:20 in the Learning Centre (Staff Room). I intend to talk about this terms topics, getting ready for Year 1 expectations and transition as well as the upcoming JIGSAW Sex and Relationships Education topic.

See you all tomorrow!
