Reception - yesterday, Wednesday 22nd September 2021

In Jigsaw we shared our special family photos with our friends, talking about our families. We then chose a special place in the classroom to put our photos so that we could go and look at them when we wanted to and to stimulate discussion at different points. This was to enable the children to also feel safe and settled and to take ownership over their classroom.

Thank you for the beautiful portraits, there will be more photos to follow, along with the learning, exploration, science and literacy that took place this afternoon in our Forest School area. We were inspired by the children's interests so decided to hunt for as many different insects as we could find, thinking about where we would find them and why. We also discovered that the Three Little Pigs and the Wolf had been in the area and set about exploring for clues, we found a blown down house of sticks, the Wolf's cave but no pigs................we were discussing and reasoning about where they could be, what had happened to them and how we could lure them out!!!! Watch this space................

Thank you for all the home learning that has come in already!!!!!!!!

Please contact me directly if you have any concerns, I have heard that some of you may have had concerns about the children's use of paints, pens and scissors. We would rather you communicate via email or face to face rather than discussing issues via whats app, which, I am sure you can appreciate, can cause confusion and ill feeling. I would really encourage you to contact me directly so that I can further explain our ethos and reassure you that the children are fully supervised and we passionately believe in curiosity, creativity, exploration and the huge benefits of sensory exploration...........not only scientifically and encouraging critical thinking but by also enriching vocabulary and language.

Thank you for your continued support.
