Reception: Chesil Beach Centre Trip

Hello Reception Families

We had a fantastic trip to the Chesil beach Centre on Tuesday. The children were very excited on the coach ride down. A highlight was passing Tescos where all the children very loudly shouted Tesco and pointed at it!!

Once we arrived we went to the visitor centre and then up on to Chesil Beach itself. We lay down and listened to waves crashing on the beach. After this, we became beach hunters and searched for treasure around the beach. We found lots of amazing things include shore crabs, spider crabs, seaweed, mermaids purses and lots more. We had a game of beach bingo to look at what we found.

After lunch we went for a walk along the sandy part of the shoreline and saw the Fleet which goes all the way to Abbotsbury. We also investigated the Chesil Beach Centre itself. It was a very good day. Everyone went home very tired (especially the adults!). Thank you to those parents that were able to help us.

Developing our skills in the Reception classroom

Hello Reception Families

We have had another wonderful week here in Reception. The children performed so well in our Peter Pan performance and we were very proud of them.

In between performances and rehearsals the children were very busy with their learning in class. The highlights this week are:

Building a house for a dragon

Developing our fine motor skills with cheerios.

Developing our fine motor skills by drawing, colouring and writing

Investigating the mini-beasts (great sorting Jack!)

Making patterns and shapes with the 2D shapes.

Investigating who had the biggest feet! (great maths language being used)

Designing and building.

Practicing forming letters in the salt tray.

And generally having fun!

See you all on Monday for another fun-filled week.

Playing, exploring and active learning in Reception this week.

 Hello Reception families

We have taken part in lots of interesting and exciting learning this week, including a visit from an author, a sports day practice and a disco! Phew!

Take a look at the highlights from this week:

We have been investigating the 'dragon slime' to see what was hidden beneath. Some children even wrote a list, using their sounds, of what they found.

Working as part of a team to build a house for a dragon.

Exploring and identifying 2D shapes.

Using our fine motor skills to colour pictures of dragons.

Practicing for sports day. Mr Treble was very impressed with our skills.

Splatting sounds we know.

Conducting our own science experiment with paper towels and tissues. Great predicting skills!

Teaching our Ukranian friend the colour names in English.

Making and following maps we had drawn (to a most delicious restaurant!)

Drawing, designing and making models.

The children have been so engaged and active in their learning. Trying out new ideas, investigating what might happen and practicing their learning in lots of different ways. We have been so proud of them.

Fantastic attitudes towards learning Reception.

Have a lovely weekend and we will see you Monday to do it all over again.
