British Week

Hello everyone,

This coming week reception will be taking part in a whole school themed week surrounding Britishness! We've got lots of things lined up in another very busy week. We're going to be taking inspiration from 'The Queen''s Hat' by Steve Antony - a story about the Queen losing her hat and chasing it all across London. We'll be looking at landmarks like Big Ben and The London Eye as well as London Underground and the Royal Family.
On Thursday afternoon - from about 3.00pm - we'll be inviting parents into school to early to take part in activities/celebrations. For reception this will take the form of a quintessentially British afternoon cream tea. We'll be making scones during the week for you to come and try. There will also be a chance to see some of the work we will have created over the week and listen to some classic British music.
As well as all of this we have our first joint morning with Pre-school. You may remember your child taking part in several last year - as a pre-school child. This will be on Wednesday so if anyone would like to come in and help for the morning, we would be very grateful!
Finally, as if that is not enough, we will be continuing going through the next set of sounds in our phonics!
We'll keep you updated with what happens as the week goes on.

  1. What a busy week indeed. Imogen is so excited at the prospect of making scones and having pre-school children visit. Would be delighted to help but so busy packing, I just might find time to try a scone or two or three.....Mmmm
