🌟 Reception Class Reward – Pajama Day! 🌟

Hello Reception Families and Friends!

We’re so excited to share some wonderful news from our Reception class!

This half term, our youngest learners have been working incredibly hard to earn stars for their class star jar. The children collect stars each time they complete a challenge or lesson together as a team — showing brilliant teamwork and demonstrating our school learning powers: respect, resilience, and resourcefulness.

We’re thrilled to say that the children have now filled their jar to the top! 🎉

To celebrate this amazing achievement, the class held a discussion to decide on a special reward — and the decision was unanimous… they would love to have a Pajama Day!

So, tomorrow, on Friday 24th October, Reception children are invited to come to school dressed in their favourite pajamas. It’s sure to be a cozy and fun-filled day! Please make sure your child’s pajamas are warm and suitable for the weather, and feel free to let them bring along a teddy or soft toy from home to join in the celebration. 🧸

This special day is all about recognising how hard the children have worked this term. We’re so proud of how well they’ve settled into school life, built new friendships, and approached their learning with such enthusiasm and curiosity. Their teamwork and positivity have been a joy to see, and Pajama Day will be a lovely way to celebrate the end of a fantastic first half term together.

Please note that this celebration is just for Reception children — children in Years 1–4 will not be taking part in this event.

Thank you so much for your continued support. We can’t wait to see all those snuggly pajamas and smiling faces tomorrow!

Warm regards,
Miss Godden and the Reception Team

Reception's Food, Faith and Farming Fortnight Finale!

What a wonderful and exciting week it has been in Reception! We have rounded off our Food, Faith and Farming Fortnight with a week full of hands-on learning, new experiences, and plenty of smiles. The children have been so enthusiastic, curious, and full of brilliant questions — we couldn’t be prouder of how engaged they’ve been!

On Monday, we had a very special visit from the new Mayor and Mayoress of Dorchester! The children were fascinated to hear about their important roles in our community and showed excellent listening and manners as they asked thoughtful questions.

Tuesday brought our first class trip — to Maiden Castle Farm! It was a wonderful day of discovery as we explored real-life farming. We saw lots of amazing machinery, learnt about how farms change with the seasons, and even met some friendly cows, pigs, and a pony!

Wednesday was National Handwashing Day, and we had great fun practising how to wash all those “green germs” away! The children loved using the special green paint to see how well they could wash their hands clean — a simple but important skill for staying healthy.

On Thursday, the classroom was filled with delicious smells as we began cooking our very own pumpkin soup! The children helped to chop, stir, and, of course, taste-test their creation — it was a big thumbs-up from Reception Class!

We ended the week on a real high with our Family Harvest Celebration on Friday. It was such a joy to share our homemade pumpkin soup with family and friends, and the children sang “Five Perfect Pumpkins” beautifully — we’re sure you were as proud of them as we were! Reception also enjoyed their Forest School session, where they explored the outdoors, played creatively, and enjoyed the autumn sunshine.

In Phonics, we’ve been learning the new sounds ‘j’, ‘v’, ‘y’, and ‘w’, and the children are becoming increasingly confident in spotting and using these sounds in their reading and writing.

What a fantastic end to our fortnight of learning about Food, Faith and Farming — a big thank you to all our families for your continued support, and to the children for their endless enthusiasm and curiosity.

We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
