Planes, airport and bird scarers!

 Hi Reception families,

It's been another busy week in Reception!

This week we have been learning all about airplanes and airports, we've discovered all the different places you can go on a plane as shared our experiences together. We even had a go at making our own plane in our play project this week. Today we had a paper airplane making working shop with Laurie Barbour, he told us all about how planes fly and the forces used to make the engine, propeller and wings help planes stay in the air. We really enjoyed flying our planes, the wind was perfect, our planes flew over the school!

This week, Hazel the Farmer asked us to help her get the sunflower trail ready for the summer, but the pesky crows keep eating all the seeds they have planted! Reception made some bird scarers to help keep the field clear and give the seeds chance to grow! Today we took the bird scarers to the field and helped Hazel position them.

Our Sunflowers are also growing nicely!

We've been busy planting pumpkins too, we compared pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, and noticed all the things that are the same and different.
We can't wait to watch these grow and harvest them in the Autumn.
Both these activities form an important part of our ongoing Sunflower Challenge!

We've also played and played and played!

Moving our attention to next week:
Understanding the world: Trains before and now
Drawing Club: Penguin
Power maths: Numerical Patterns
PE Monday Mr Treble

As ever please do get in touch if there is anything we can do to help.
Ms Evans and the Reception Team.
