Magic Pots, Flapjacks, Oats and Changes ahead!

 Hi Reception families,

Here we are at the end of another busy week!

This week our focus was The Magic Porridge Pot, we have had all sorts of Oat-y fun this week!

We have been making magic porridge potions, we've been experimenting with how much water and oats you need to make thick or runny porridge. We wrote down our potion recipes!

We also all took it in turns to make flapjack with Mrs Briant, I hope you enjoyed eating them with the children!

We made Magic Porridge Pots in make and create using junk modelling and clay, wrote magic potions, completed the porridge oat challenge using only one finger at a time and started our Letterjoin handwriting sessions.

All children brought a pencil control practice sheet home with them yesterday, we loved seeing the ones returned this week and they have been put on display on the castle. If children would like to complete the sheet and return it we would be delighted to see them.

You should have also received a letter about RWinc if you have not had one please let me know.

Our words in Get up Stand up/ Drawing Club were:

Enchanted, Cease, Despair, Conversation and Endless.

Turning our attention to next week:

Drawing Club: Road Runner

Power Maths: Numbers within 10

In Understanding the World we are focusing on Chinese New Year which is a lovely topic. On Friday we have a special Dragon Dance Workshop.

Changes Ahead:

This weekend I have changed the classroom around, this has been done for a number of reasons, our learning landscape needs to evolve as the children develop.

MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL:

From Monday we will change our pick up and drop off point, to the doors within our outside area (where we did pick up/drop off when the playground was frozen) to this end we have moved the lockers.

Moving the lockers means we can begin to develop a focused Maths and Literacy area.

I have also moved our construction and small world toys to give the children more space to play.

There is another activity area in Make and Create.

The Castle has become a dedicated two story 'home corner'

There are also a few more activity areas.

Carpet Kingdom, Snack Station and the Sensory Tent remain the same.

These are some big changes so please do take some time to show your child these pictures, I told the children that this was happening on Friday but a reminder over the weekend would be helpful, particularly for those who find change difficult.

I am really looking forward to children playing in our new landscape.  Please do share this blog with other parents in the class so as many people as possible know about the changes and I'll be on the gate on Monday!

As ever, if there is anything I can help with, please do get in touch!

Ms Evans and the Reception Team.
