Friday 29th March 2019
Read and share your book and other stories.
Signs of Spring Maths, choose something from the following ideas: Go on a spring walk - what signs of spring can you see? Can you count them……………..flowers, trees, birds nests etc How could you record this? Collect some insects and discuss which ones are bigger, smaller, longer and shorter. Roll a dice or two dice and use the number of spots to add spots to a drawing or painting of a lady bird or a pig. Estimate how many petals are on a flower that you see, then count them to check. Bake spring themed biscuits using your maths skills to help you. Go onto purple mash and draw a spring themed picture discussing numbers as you create it - how many petals/legs etc.
Signs of Spring writing: Find a picture or a real life object that reminds you of spring and write 5 words that describe that picture, using your sounds and Fred fingers to help you. If you would like a challenge………….: You could write a spring themed poem like we did in class!
Thank you again to all of you who have volunteered to accompany us next week on our trip!

Reception Home Learning Friday 22nd March
Reception Home Learning Friday 22nd March 2019
- Read and share your book.
- Frog Prince maths, choose your learning: Can you see how many times you can throw and catch a ball. Can you roll a ball and see how far it goes - how will you measure the distance? Practise writing your numbers onto paper lily pads, get someone to call out one of the numbers and you have to do a froggy jump to land on it. Could you go for a swim at the pool and see how many widths or lengths you can swim, can you pick any objects off the bottom off the pool like the Frog Prince - count how many. How many times can you jump into the pool? Have you got a pond - could you go pond dipping and see how many tadpoles or frog spawn you can count.
- Send in pictures or record it in your red book.
- Frog Prince writing: Can you write a question you would like to ask the Frog Prince?
FYI: Farm Trip = Monday 1st April

Ribbit............Ribbit..........Ribbit.........Reception!
This week our learning has been and will continue to be based around The Frog Prince..........what a rude princess she is AND she broke her promise!!!!!!!!!!! This is terrible behaviour, we must write a sorry letter to the Frog, he was so kind to her and all he wanted was to share a meal with her and sleep on her pillow!!!!!!!!!!! We should also never judge a book by it's cover!!!!!!!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtQ4DdzCZMA
We will definitely be investigating all about the life cycle of a frog!
There has been some fantastic design and technology so far this week, making working wells!
Our maths learning will be investigating lengths of jumps, time it takes to jump around a course, sharing flies out fairly between frogs (pretend flies......), designing and making ponds with partners with specific items in (based around language of comparison), playdough and painted frog spawn, speckled frogs - counting..................we will also be exploring the concept of part, part whole.
Please do share the story at home.

Tomorrow for forest schools it is the turn of Owl, Winnie and Rabbit group.
Thank you for coming to share our story on Monday! If any of you would like to read to the class, that would be lovely and very special!
Next week we will be basing our learning around the Oscar Wilde Story - The Selfish Giant. This will lead into beginning to plant in our outdoor area, new planters - if anyone has any seeds they can offer or gardening expertise, or even would like to come in and do some gardening with the children, pop in and see us!!!!! I plan for our summer term to be based around nature, indoor and outdoor plants, bugs, wildlife.................
See you all tomorrow.....................ribbit!!!!!!!!

Comic Relief - Reception
Thank you to all of you who were able to come along and support the 2019 Comic Relief Reception and Pre-School PoW's Got Talent. It was fantastic to see so many children confident, brave and willing to stand up and share their talent whilst raising money for charity - they should be very proud of themselves and there were definitely some talents to be nurtured there.............another one for the memory book! Do pop along and see the office if you are interested in taking up a musical instrument in the future.
Don't forget the Comic Relief cake and merchandise sale after school tomorrow and Thursday. Home clothes day on Friday too!
The children were buzzing with excitement on Friday as, for our Big Write, they all wrote messages for the dragons and hid them round the classroom..........we are trying to save Camelot. This week we read the story of George and the Dragon and have been thinking how we could trap a dragon and if we catch one, what we should do with it.
Thank you to all of you who have brought in some of your topic related home learning, we love sharing your creative ideas and learning.
Mr. Spracklen has nearly finished replying to all the letters that you sent him over half term..........I am sure he would love you to write back to him!!!!!
Our wow words of the day this week so far are: wonderful and superb............please use them at home and, by all means, encourage the children to come up with their own wow words. We are passionate about introducing new vocabulary and developing communication and language skills.
It s the last forest schools for Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger tomorrow, it will change to the other three groups next week. Dress for wet and cold conditions for tomorrows forest schools.
See you all tomorrow!

Reception - King Arthur.....................
Our Reception children continue to astound us every day! The energy, enthusiasm and excitement has been electric over the last couple of weeks.....................
We hope you all enjoyed the class assembly last Friday - we were so proud of how confident they have all become! The film is definitely one to dig out in a few years too!
Our week so far began with an urgent request from King Arthur..................he needed more knights!!!!!!! This led to great discussions on what qualities were needed to be a knight, what were their jobs, how did you become a knight, who was King Arthur...............
We found out yesterday, via another messenger that Camelot was under attack so we had to explore all different ways that we could protect the kingdom...............making catapults and testing how far they shot, building castles with turrets, moats, portcullis and battlements, making shields and swords and seeing which ones were the longest, designing dragons that could be trained to help us...............
We think this is not the end...............continued next week!
Interwoven in our learning this week has been Book Week with the grand opening of the library on Monday and a visit from the author David Solomons. Today we were read a story by a member of the Waterstones team who also gave us all a free book! Yesterday we visited the book swap and were all able to find a new book! Ofcourse, today was World Book Day and didn't you all look tremendous, spectacular, breath taking, extraordinary! (Wow words of the week!) Jane Hurdiss, another author, also came into our assembly to read us her stories.
It was also wonderful to see so many of you able to come to our story time on Monday afternoon! Please come along next Monday between 3:00 and 3:10pm.
Please could we ask for all RWInc reading books come back for tomorrow so that we can hand out new ones, there is also some topic themed home learning this week - please choose an activity from the list!
Thank you for all the feedback from yourselves and the children in last weeks home/school communication home learning. We really welcome your comments.
Thank you also for all the objects that you have donated for our natural maths counting resources, it looks amazing and sooooooooo inviting!
See you all tomorrow from,
