Reception - Science Fair Tomorrow!

Hello everyone,

Last week and this week we have been having a special focus on Science!! We have done lots of different things and learnt lots of new things too! I've put a few pictures below but please ask your children what they have been learning about, they will hopefully fill you in on all the details!!

Also, tomorrow is the POW Science Fair in the afternoon from 2.45pm! Apologies to the parents I told 2.30pm this morning!! Children can come in to school tomorrow dressed as their favourite scientist... Then from 2.45pm all parents are welcome in to school to either take their children round the science fair or help their child to show and run their home learning 'Energy' project! Please make sure that if you have something you would like in the Science Fair that it is in school tomorrow morning so we can work out how to allocate space in the hall.

The top picture is a picture of the children entering the Science Dome earlier on this morning! We learnt about constellations and the story of Orion and his trusty dog Sirius as well as looking at what you could see in the night sky.

We have also been investigating light by using torches and kaleidoscopes

We were fortunate to be able to borrow some magnetic construction from year 3 and we have been busy making all sorts of different things! Here are some numbers that have been made.

Of course, we couldn't have a science week without making some slime!! Just cornflour and coloured water.

Using the text Aliens Love Underpants we made some of our pants using white wax crayons and then painting over them.

Lastly, today we also got to try some astronaut food! Ask your children what they thought of the space ice cream!?
