Reception - New Routine Tomorrow

Hi all,

I trust that you have all had a very restful break along with some great fun! We are all looking forward to the next half term - lots to do! To begin our new half term we are going to introduce a different routine to the beginning of the day - this will start tomorrow.

Self Registration

When you come in to the classroom all children will have a very important job to do - find their name in the basket and then add it to the Duplo board to let us know that you are in school on the day. This will take the place of the morning register and will allow children to spend longer on their own learning in the morning.

Once you have registered there will be a choice of 4 writing activities. These are self selected and will come in 4 'levels' - designated by the colours. It is completely up to you which one you choose to do! You can choose to the same one every day, or a different one every day! Once done these can be placed in the 'Finished' tray underneath the Duplo basket. Children will complete one of these before going to choose their own learning in the classroom. This means that there will be no clapping and coming to the carpet until past 9.00am. Parents are welcome to stay until the normal time and help!

There will be more information shared about writing in the reception year at the upcoming parents evening as well as on blogs.

You may also notice some new 'Challenge Cards' spread throughout the classroom. Once again, these are for children to choose to do and be independent with and will change on a regular basis.

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
