Hi all,

I've already spoken enough words about how fantastic it has been working with your children this year and how exciting it is to have them for yet another year.. Yesterday we had a brilliant afternoon with pre-school that ended the year perfectly. A few pictures from the last day yesterday to send you all off for a glorious summer break.

Reception - Tomorrow Afternoon

Hi all,

Tomorrow afternoon we will be having a small end of year celebration in school from 3.15pm. We will be gathered for photographs as well as our 'Most likely to be...' awards. Please feel free to head to school for this time if you would like to. We will also be sending children home with their PE bags tomorrow afternoon.

Big congratulations to all the children who won an award this morning in the end of year award ceremony! Some very tricky decisions we had to make, they all could have been won by so many children.

Reception - Citizenship Awards

Hi all,

A message to say a massive congratulations to Jacob for being awarded the Citizenship Award for the reception class this year. This award is given out at the end of the year to recognise a child who has consistently shown all 7 of the DASP caterpillars throughout the year. This is not to say that other children in the class are not demonstrating the caterpillars at all! It is always a very difficult decision to choose one child.

Reception - Breakfast Success!

 Hi all,

A BIG thank you to everyone that could make it along this morning to our Granny and Granddad's Breakfast. I hope you all enjoyed your time with us and got to see the classroom, have a chat and, of course, eat something nice! 

As I mentioned this morning, we wanted to say thank you to all the (often unseen) effort Grandparents put in with the children and this was our way of doing so.

Reception - A Few Things...

Hello everyone,

As we rapidly approach the end of term I would like to outline some of the things that will be happening! 

In chronological order...

Wednesday 18th - Our Granny and Granddad's Breakfast will be held in the reception classroom from 9.00am. All Grandparents are invited and, of course, parents where it is not possible for Grandparents to attend. We look forward to serving you up something nice. A question I had today was whether or not the children are allowed to eat? The answer is yes, of course! 

Monday 23rd - The final Awards Assembly will take place on this day. Please could we ask for all children who won awards last half-term to return them to school so they may be passed on.

Wednesday 25th - Last day of term! We have some special plans for this day. I don't want to reveal everything at this point but there are a couple of things to make you aware of... we are going to be replacing our normal lunch with something else..... you do not have to do anything if your child is normally a hot dinner. If your child usually has a packed lunch and you would still like this to still be the case, please bring one in. Secondly, we are planning on having an ice cream 'treat' in school. The price for this will be £1 per child. Please could we collect your £1 coins though to ensure they are in one place. 

There will be other things happening between now and the end of term but these are a few to make you aware of now!

Reception - Granny & Granddad's Breakfast

Hello everyone,

Hopefully by now you will have all received your invitations to our Granny & Granddad's Breakfast next Wednesday 18th July from 9.00am!? If not, we would love all grandparents to come along to this. Grandparents often offer an invaluable service for children and we would like to show our appreciation of their efforts through the year. We are busy planning what it is we are going to have available at the moment.

If your circumstances do not allow for a Grandparent to come on this date, parents are of course invited to come in their place. 

We had a great trip to Honeybrook Farm yesterday, a short video will be available soon that sums up the day we had! Thank you to everyone that came along and helped out on this trip.

Lastly, please don't forget that there is a Parent Information session from 2.00pm this afternoon to discuss year 1 and then Open Afternoon begins from 2.30pm. You are invited into school to look through your child's work and see their new classroom space. If you have any questions, please come and ask them this afternoon.

Reception - This Week...

Hi everyone,

Another busy week at the Prince Of Wales School and a couple of things I would like to say/remind you about:

Firstly, this Wednesday is the Reception classes trip to Honeybrook Farm. This is the children's first all day trip and is a wonderful way to celebrate the year. As we are expecting hot weather again please could we ask that children have at least 2 drinks bottles with them as well as hat/sun cream etc. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that have already offered to come along for the day.

PLEASE NOTE - As the whole school will be participating in a non-school uniform day to celebrate England's success in the World Cup, we did not want the reception class to miss out on this. It is absolutely fine if you would like to wear England/football shirts for the trip. 

Secondly, this Thursday is the school 'Open Afternoon'. I will be running a Parent Information Session in the school hall from 2.00pm on this day. I will share what it can look like in a year 1 classroom and answer any questions you may have about the transition. All are welcome to this - if you have relatives that your children spend a large amount of time with, please invite them along too. This will finish at 2.30pm for you to go into classrooms with your children.

Lastly, the reception children have started working on some invitations... I will say nothing more other than to ask GRANDPARENTS to save the date of Wednesday 18th July from 9.00am

Reception - Reports and Parent Information Session

Hello everyone,

I hope you enjoyed receiving your child's report this afternoon if you were in school today. I hope they truly show how amazing each and every one of your children are and how much progress they have made this year in ALL areas. If you have any questions about the content please do not hesitate to come and speak to us in the morning. 

With the reports should have been an invitation to a Parent Information Session on Thursday 12th July from 2.00pm. In this, I will delve a little deeper into the year 1 curriculum and share some possible ideas of things to do over the summer holidays. All that are concerned with your child are welcome to come along. The school will then be open from 2.30pm for the whole school Open Afternoon'

Tomorrow afternoon is 'Bump up' afternoon and your child will get to meet their year 1 teacher! How exciting for you all to find out more about them! Children will be leaving the school at the end of the day via the year 1 door. If you are unsure where this is please let us know.

Reception - BBQ Tomorrow!

Hi all,

We have been busy preparing for the Reception and Pre-School BBQ tomorrow after school from 3.30pm. All children and families are invited to come along and get tasting (vegetarian options available), playing and chatting! With another hot day in prospect if anyone has a gazebo/shelter available please come and see us tomorrow morning!

Please note that we will be sending pre-school and reception children home to parents after school tomorrow afternoon, so it will be busy. Please bear with us whilst we ensure all children are sent to their adults. Thank you in advance.

Lastly, we started doing a daily yoga session in class today. Please ask your children what they thought about it! All feedback is welcome.
