Reception - Goodbye and Enjoy the Summer!

Image result for goodbye

Hello everyone,

A message to everyone involved with the reception children this year: Thank you. Thank you for giving us such super children who are eager to learn and curious about the world around them. Every one of them should be incredibly proud of themselves. I look back at where we have come since September and I am blown away by some of the progress that has been made! And it is not just being at school that means this can happen; it is made so much easier with your support and involvement. Not just getting your children to school on time but taking part in school events, bringing in Wow! Moments and home learning and working on things at home. From the reception team we wish you a fond farewell and I know that everyone will be raring to go in September for the next adventure! Take the time to rest and recharge and enjoy making some brilliant memories together. We may be seeing some of you again in the future - if you can bear the torment again!?!  Thank you.

Reception - End of term bits and bobs

Image result for bits and bobs

Hello everyone,

It was lovely to see so many of you for the open afternoon today! We hope you had a chance to go up to your child's next classroom and meet one their new teachers and ask any questions that you might have had. If you have any further questions, please let us know so we can help answer them or pass them along to the year 1 team.
As the end of term is fast approaching I have put a list of a few things that we need your help with as well as outlining some of the things we will be doing this week!

  • Sound pots and tricky word fans - please can these come back in to school. Leaving them in book bags will be fine!
  • Library books - Please return these to the library if you have taken any out.
  • Group reading books - Please put these in to book bags and we will collect them through the week.
  • Report slips - If you haven't already done so, please can you return your report slip card.
For the remainder of the week we will be continuing to explore the different connections that we have in our class! Today we have been to Brazil and found out about Samba music as well as trying some lovely cheesy snacks! There are a couple of countries left to visit before we finish celebrating the vast range of backgrounds we have in our class.
We will start sending some things home for you to keep from Wednesday onwards. This will include art work, PE kits, any other work as well as some little surprises that we have lined up!

We will also place in to your child's book bag a list of possible activities you could do over the summer to aid with the transition to year 1. Please don't feel obligated to complete all of these! They are just suggestions for a rainy day!

Sorry for the tonne of information! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! We are all going to be sad to see the last day come and go but know that the next adventure awaits at the beginning of September!

Reception - No Honeybrook... But Afternoon Tea!

Hello everyone,

We apologise that we weren't able to get to Honeybrook Farm today! The children were very excited for this and whilst we gave it some serious thought, the weather forecast was proven to be true with the rain!
However, we didn't just stop and mope! Instead we began a journey around the world that will celebrate the diverse nature of the reception class. We found out this morning that we have links to Greece, France, Australia and even Brazil! For the last 2 weeks we will be exploring these links and countries! If there is anyone out there at home that would be willing to come in and talk about their country then please come and let us know! It would be great to have you in - only 10 minutes I promise!!
We have started our journey in Great Britain and to celebrate our own country we had a quintessentially British afternoon tea! We made some scones and sat down at the end of the day to dig in to them! They were very tasty indeed! Who knows where we'll end up tomorrow?

Reception - This Week's News

Image result for honeybrook farm

Hello everyone,

As we enter our final fortnight of the year we are not letting up with the activities and busy days! Tomorrow is our trip to Honeybrook Farm. Please ensure children come to school in their school tops and play trousers. It may also be necessary to bring both Wellies and trainers as the weather seems to be quite changeable at the moment! We will be keeping a close eye on the weather and will let you know as early as possible of any changes. If your child has a hot dinner at school they will be provided with a packed lunch.
Also this week we are having our annual 'Granny and Granddad's Breakfast' hopefully invitations have been passed on to grandparents! We will be serving cereals and toast as well as teas, coffees and juice! There will be a chance to look through the nearly completed learning journeys as well as play, chat and explore the classroom!
We hope you all enjoyed reading the reports that were sent home on Friday. If we could remind you to send back the return slip that was included in the envelope that would be fantastic! If you have any questions about the reports please feel free to come and see us! Thank you.

Hello again everyone,

Today, your child will have come home with an invitation to a special breakfast morning we will be having in school on Thursday 13th July from 9.00am for all grandparents. Grandparents are often very supportive at home and at school and the children and staff at school would like to say thank you for this! There will be tea and coffee available as well as some cereal and toast! This invitation extends to any grandparents that would like to come along. We do understand that some grandparents may not be able to make this date and if this is the case then parents are welcome to come along. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!

Image result for tae-kwon-do

Hello everyone,

We had a great time this morning having a go at some Tae-kwando skills! we got to practice our kicking, balancing skills, work with nunchucks and test our strength! Some great attitudes all round and children were very enthusiastic. Your child should have come home with a sticker on giving the contact details of the local club that can be attended here at Prince of Wales school in the evening. If you lost this, please come and see us and we can pass along the details.
Tomorrow afternoon is bump-up afternoon! Children from reception will head on up to year 1 to be with their new teacher for the afternoon. Children will return to the reception classroom at the end of the day so pick up will be from the usual place. A letter confirming your child's new teachers has been sent home today. Thank you.

Image result for sports

Hello everyone!

What a fantastic sports morning we had today with the reception class! They were super throughout and deserve a big well done for completing their first one! Everyone will have come home with certificates tonight, both congratulating them for taking part and for winning any of the races! Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that were able to make it this morning, the children and staff really appreciated it and we hope you enjoyed yourselves. We will endeavour to get some pictures up for you to see tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow is the day of our BBQ after school. Children from pre-school and reception are invited to come and grab something to eat and chat with each other. At the end of the day we will be sending pre-school children out first and then reception children. Please then head round to the side and queue! We promise that the queues will not be as bad as last year! As a priority we will make sure all reception and pre-school children have something to eat before moving on to siblings and adults. Please consider giving a voluntary contribution of £1: no one will be excluded. Thank you.
