Reception Thursday 20th January 2022

Well, where has this week gone?????????????????

We have been absolutely blown away by the learning, home learning and enthusiasm that the children have shown for this topic! EVERY SINGLE CHILD wrote a letter to the Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The atmosphere is electric at the moment with the imminent arrival of some Royal visitors tomorrow - Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth the first and King Charles the second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mrs. Smith sent you all an email this evening detailing the learning your child will be doing in RWInc from Monday. The assessments are very accurate and please be assure that your child will be in a group that is entirely suitable for their level. If you see the term "review" in your description, please do not be alarmed, this is purely a part of each lesson where the children go over their prior learning in order to embed the sounds further and at speed. Every child made progress in the assessments and are all doing well. Should we be concerned then we would contact you separately.

A letter will be coming home tomorrow, along with library books, with details about the virtual school disco, please look out for it so taht you can book by Monday.

Your child will also be receiving their POW passport next week but this is a secret so please do not let on!

Below are some photos from this weeks learning. Thank you again for all the home learning that has taken place. As a team, we have reflected and adapted our learnijng for next week in order to follow the current interests of the children following our London/Royal slant!!!!!!! Watch this space!!!!!

A reminder: PLASE CAN CHILDREN NOT BRING TOYS IN FROM HOME - PTHER THAN 1 SMALL SOFT COMFORTER TOY THAT STAYS IN THEIR BAG IF YOU FEEL THEY NEED ONE.

Thank you to POWSA for our new Book Nook - it is nearly finished!

Reception Sunday 16th January 2022 - Urgent - please read and share this blog!

Hello Everyone,

I have had several emails and notifications over the weekend informing us that a number of our class are, unfortunately, suffering from a sickness bug! Please may I reassure you that our daily cleaning routine is more thorough than ever following COVID protocol. Therefore, this must be a bug that is highly contagious and is being transmitted directly between the children in close contact with eachother. We will continue to maintain our very high standards of hygiene and ensure hand sanitiser is being used frequently. If your child is ill, please inform the office and PLEASE keep your child at home for atleast 48 hours after the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea. This will enable us to try to stop the spread of this nasty illness.

Please send our love and best wishes to the children and we will look forward to seeing them back in class when they are recovered.

Best wishes to you all and for speedy recoveries,

Mrs. J

Reception Friday 14th January 2021

What an incredible week of learning we have had. The children have been so enthusiastic about our topic and have really shown a focussed interest on aspects of history around London. Following their interests we will have a focus on the Queen, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth the first and tea! In Power Maths we will be comparing numbers within 10 and the language focus will be more, less, fewer, fewest, most.

The children are really enjoying basket ball with Coach Luca on Fridays, this will continue every Friday. Please can all RWInc books be returned as the children will be in different groups next week and we will need all books back. Library books are still being changed on a Friday.

Mrs. Smith and I will be spending next Thursday, after school, composing individual emails to you all with the phonics progress about your child and advice about what you can do at home to continue to support them. We will not be using zoom to do this due to technical issues.

Home Learning will be coming home today as a hard copy in book bags.

Reception Week 1 Spring Term 2022

Happy New Year to you all!

Firstly, thank you for all your kind Christmas gifts, wishes and support. We hope you had a peaceful holiday.

The children have all returned bubbly, pleased to be back and excited to learn! We have had a fabulous first week and are really excited to introduce our new topic next week.

We will be spending this half term with a humanities focus based around "our world" - exploring the concept of village, town, city, country, continent with relation to our local area, London, Europe and Further away. As you can imagine there will be so many opportunities for the children to be inspired from, landmarks, transport, language, stories, role play, cooking................and wherever their interests and curiosity takes them.Today, children will come home with 2 new library books and the Power Maths B book. Please contact me if there are any questions about the Power Maths. The first 2 weeks are focussing on numbers 6-10.

Next week Mrs. Smith will be carrying out RWInc assessments in Reception and then both Mrs. Smith and I will arrange individual 10 minute feedback meetings with each of you via zoom.

Further homelearning will be available next week with relation to our topic, but feel free to launch sooner if you are inspired.

Have a great week-end.

Mrs. J, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Rogers and Mrs. Cleaver
