Reception week commencing 16th December 2019

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I can't believe we are in the final week of the term - where does time go? Mrs. Smith and I are so proud of our class and we keep reflecting on how much they have achieved in their first term of school - they have grown so much already...…...in confidence, developing skills, positive behaviour, friendships, attitudes...…...the list goes on! They really are a kind and caring class!

We are very excited about the Carol Service on Tuesday and hope that you can all make it - Mrs. Smith and I will be ready to welcome the children at the back of the Church between 4:30 and 4:45. They will bring their costume home on Tuesday and will need to wear it to the Church with their school shoes. PLEASE CAN YOU RETURN THE COSTUME THE NEXT MORNING SO THAT YEAR 1 MAY USE THEM (this is why we have not sent them home earlier as I stated in the last blog - Year 1 need them for their technical and dress rehearsals.)

A few last reminders for this week - Local Food Links Christmas Lunch is on Wednesday this week for those of you who have ordered it. The Christmas party is on Friday - please come in and sign up to make a contribution to the party food. As well as party games and dancing on Friday, there will be a little treat for all the children in the school as, for the third year running, The Prince of Wales Staff Panto will be performing!!!!!!!

We are still filming for a Christmas secret film and if you do NOT want your child to possibly appear in it, please let us know as it will appear on our school facebook page.

See you all tomorrow,

Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Johnson

Reception information - Wednesday 11th December 2019

Good morning to you all,

We arrived on Monday morning to discover Father Christmas had set up hs workshop in our classroom and that also we had had a blizzard!!!!!!!! Presents were made, wrapped and delivered as well as snow angels made!!!!!!!!

Thank you to those of you who have already completed the handwriting home learning, we will have a continuous supply of the different handwriting sheets in the classroom for you to take as and when you like for further practice. They are located in baskets on the right hand side as you enter the classroom.

This week we are on a secret filming mission which may entail us taking some children off site - all will be revealed at the Carol Service NEXT TUESDAY. We will be sending your child's costume home this week. Please could you wash it if it needs it and feel free to add extras to the costume. For example the angels might like more tinsel or stars added. It is totally up to you. All we ask is that the children arrive at the church wearing their costume and school shoes between 4:30 and 4:45 ready for the service to begin at 5pm. Costumes MUST be returned the following morning as Year 1 will need to use them!

You will NOT need a ticket and there will be no reserved seats, the church doors will be open from 4:30pm. The service is truly magical and all friends and family are welcome.

A reminder that this Friday children may wear a Christmas jumper and home clothes.

Christmas party day is NEXT Friday - party food sign up sheets are on the white board in the classroom, please take a look and sign up next to something you may be able to donate.

Many thanks!!!!!!!

Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. smith

Reception week commencing 2nd December 2019

Good morning to you all,

A week full of mixed emotions..............whilst we have had the most exciting start to December with our North Pole Research Station, STEM week and a ride on a train through the school, many of us have been very poorly!

To those of you who are not well, Mrs. Smith and I send you our love and best wishes - "Get well soon!"

There seem to be a few different bugs floating around - chicken pox, shingles, a nasty virus with a hacking cough and a tummy bug. Please allow 48 hours from the last episode of being ill to return to school, if your child has had a tummy bug. Please be reassured that we will keep a close eye on all the children in our class and will not hesitate to call you if they are unwell.

This week has been a spectacular STEM enrichment experience for the children where they have been immersed in an array of STEM activities. Please come in on Friday afternoon to see the work the children have been doing, in the hall. There will also be a Power Maths workshop the same afternoon, run by Mr. Gibson.

FYI in advance - NEXT FRIDAY is Christmas craft morning as well as the school fayre in the afternoon. The children will NOT need book bags on this day, they CAN wear home clothes and a christmas jumper. There will also be a sign up sheet in the classroom next week for our christmas party lunch!

Home Learning - thank you for all the pictures that have been emailed in, the children have thoroughly enjoyed sharing them and speaking with confidence infront of the class. We will be having a focus on handwriting and letter formation, the children will be sent home with their home learning books and a RWInc letter formation sheet. Should you wish to take more and different letters over the week, we will have a tray with them in that you can take from whenever you like!

See you soon and get well soon!

All our love, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Smith!
