Reception - International Cafe

Hi all,

Many thanks to everyone who popped along to our International Cafe this afternoon. We hope that you got to see all the hard work the reception class put into their display area as well as taste some lovely food! Some pictures throughout of us making our paella earlier on today - Love the expression on some of these...

A few notice:

1. The class photos order sheet will have come home with your child today. Please make sure you get your order in to school by the closing date to avoid disappointment.
2. It is a Non-School Uniform day tomorrow! This is in aid of our School Fayre on Saturday. Please feel free to bring in a voluntary contribution for the tombola.
3. Sun protection: With the hot weather set to continue please can you ensure your child has a hat in school. Please also feel free to drop some sun cream into school so we can top it up throughout the day if needed.

Reception - Great Sports Day!

Hello everyone,

How do I begin this one!? What a great afternoon we had this afternoon. Through the heat of the afternoon sun a class of 28 four or five year olds showcased their sporting prowess through their skills and racing. A huge well done for completing their first Sports Day! I think the pictures speak more than words...

Before that though, a final reminder that tomorrow afternoon is our International Cafe in school from 3.00pm. All are welcome to come into the hall with their children to celebrate our Global Awareness Fortnight and see what we have been learning, making and cooking!

Reception - Sports Day Tomorrow and BBQ!

Hi all,

A final reminder that our Sports Day is tomorrow afternoon! Please head to the school from 1.30pm for an afternoon of sports and activity.

A further reminder that the deadline for the home learning project is this Thursday Thank you for the projects already bought in, we are displaying them on the wall in the stage area.

The photos here are from our visit from DEED where we learnt about the meaning of 'Fairtrade' as well as some of the countries where our favourite things are made and/or grown. The children were challenged to see where they could spot the Fairtrade logo when out and about!

Finally, a note to say that Next Tuesday (3rd July) we will be holding a Reception & Pre-school BBQ. This has become an annual event in recent years and is a fantastic opportunity to mingle with new and current parents/carers. You may remember being in the Pre-school camp this time last year!? All are invited to come along and celebrate and enjoy the occasion. Whilst there will not be a charge for this event, we will be accepting voluntary donations. More info will follow later this week... Thank you

Reception - RSPB Visit

Hi all,

On Thursday we had a couple of fantastic visitors in the form of Mr and Mrs. Farrington. They came to us in their RSPB capacity to help us learn about some of the fantastic nature and wildlife that we have in our own school grounds.

Lots of learning taking place here with the children asking some super questions and giving their own describing words.

Please ask your children what they learnt and saw today.

Reception - What Are We Up To?

Hi all,

A quick blog about what we are actually learning about in school at the moment! We are, of course, learning our dance ready for this Friday. The children may have come home showing you some of their freestyle moves from today... some of which were priceless. All are invited to the Dance Day on Friday from 2.30pm. Please head to the school office.

After our take off on Monday morning we have been finding out more about the continent of Europe. Today we began looking at famous landmarks, and this began with the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Also today, children began exploring the flags that we have displayed in the main corridor at the moment. Again, I was a amazed at some of the knowledge the children already possessed about flags.

As part of our Global Awareness Fortnight we want to begin to show children their place in the world. This began yesterday with the start of our 'My World' creations... these will continue as we go through the fortnight.

Loom Band Fantastic - 14th June 2018

Indi-Rose in year 2 has thought of an exciting project which could raise lots of money for our Big Project.  Thinking big, Indi-Rose with the help of you, would like to create a Loom Band which stretches all of the way to Maiden Castle!  There will be a stall at our Summer Fair next weekend.  We need your help though.  If you have any loom bands gathering dust we could put them to a really good use!

Image result for father's day

Hi all,

Just to let you know if you haven't discovered already, all children will have come home with

  1. Their Father's day cards. Whilst the design was chosen by us, the children did pretty much everything themselves. We hope all the Dad's have a fantastic day with their children.
  2. Their country to discover more about. Following up from my previous blog about the home learning project for the next 2 weeks. The deadline for this is Thursday 28th June.
Have a wonderful weekend and see you all on Monday!

Reception - Global Awareness Fortnight!

Related image

Hello everyone,

As you may already be aware, we are beginning an exciting fortnight next week: Global Awareness Fortnight. We have lots of activities planned for these couple of weeks and I will keep you updated as we go along. To begin with each class is going to be set some home learning on a global theme. With the World Cup beginning this week we would like to know some more about the countries taking part. With this in mind each child will get to choose a country out of a hat - it could be any of the 32 teams.
We would like you to find out and present some information about this country. This could be presented however you would like; you have amazed us with some of your presentation skills so far this year!
The deadline for this will be the Thursday of the second week - 28th June. Please bring all home learning into school.

Children will come home on Thursday with their country and flag. Good luck and we look forward to finding out about your country!

Reception - Baby Photos

Image may contain: 2 people

Hello Everyone,

Our Jigsaw puzzle this half term is called 'Changing Me' and this is the beginnings of teaching children about how their bodies are going to be changing as time moves forward and how they have already changed since they were babies. We have already been busy labeling parts of the body - you may have seen 'Boris The Magnificent' hanging on the wall this morning.
To assist with the next part of this puzzle it would be fantastic if we could have a baby photo for each child in school. If it is easier to send them digitally, please do. The session is not until Thursday 21st June so plenty of time to dig the old photo albums out and reminisce! Thank you.

Reception - So, We're Into the Last Half-term

Hello everyone,

A BIG welcome back to everyone and we hope that you had a restful, if not peaceful, half-term break. We enter the final half-term full of energy for what lies ahead and there are a few pictures about what we have been up to already since we have been back.

When we came back on Tuesday morning we spoke about all the things we had done during the holidays - some of which were very exotic! After this discussion all the children took part in a Big Write! The results of which were absolutely brilliant... I couldn't praise them enough for their efforts.

Yesterday afternoon we made our way over to pre-school as our classroom was being used by the new intake of reception children - hard to think it was a year ago that this class was going through the same process. Anyway, we had to have some fun, so we made some Mr. Messy biscuits! Some were less Mr. Messy and more Mr. Blobby however! Very tasty though.

Today we got busy making some playdough and have set up a space in the classroom where we will put any postcards/memorabilia from trips and holidays you take outside of school. We already have 2 postcards on here so if you have anything you want to add from your half-term, please bring it in!

Finally, I'm sorry to say that you are going to have to put up with me for another year. A newsletter was sent home today confirming each class team. Mrs. Webb and I are very excited and looking forward to another fantastic year to build upon this one. Transition = Easy Peasy.
