Reception - Chromebooks and Window Cleaning?

Hello everyone,

After coming to terms with the rather fresh feel of the weather this morning we cracked on and have had a great day.

This afternoon the children all got to use some of the new Chromebooks that we have in school to begin learning about coding. We used the J2e website which can be found on our children's links page HERE

We also put the children to work scrubbing the windows and anything else they could find in the outdoor area! This is great for physical development and strength.

Some clarity on the Eco home learning project that went home on Friday: There is no requirement for your creation to actually work - it can be powered by imagination. If you are not sure or have any questions, please come and see us. Mr. Macbean and Mr Spracklen are eager to judge the entries and award the prizes!

Reception - Home Learning Tray

Image result for home learning

Hello everyone,

It was lovely to get back into the classroom today and see what had occurred this week! I was blown away by the writing that has been completed this week. WOWZERS! Not only this, but the independence with which children are doing this is a massively positive thing.

I have put a few new bits and pieces in the Home Learning Trays above the coat pegs in the classroom. Please take some or all of these as you see fit! Once again, there is no expectation to do these. We are always happy to see these in school so please bring them in if you would like to.

-Handwriting practice
-Bingo cards - this will require an adult to read out words and then children to find them.
-Addition to 10 game - this will require some dice and a counter.

Today we also began doing something very important in PE... preparing for our sports day! The main elements we will work on this half term are the skills and the concept of working as a team.

Reception - Sun Cream, Hats and the Farm...

Related image

Hello everyone,

Thank you to everyone that came along to the parent information session this morning. If there are any questions you had that came from it, please come and chat with us. The main message was that we will be enjoying our summer term whilst preparing ourselves for the transition to year 1 - there will be lots more information about this going forward. There was also some information shared regarding sun safety...

What with the weather being marvellous today, children will have come home with a suncream form in their bookbags. If you are happy for us to apply sun cream to your children in school then we will need one of these filled out please, to give us permission. Could you then please bring in the bottle of sun cream for us to keep at school with your child's name written somewhere upon it or on a label. Thank you. Another piece of kit that will be helpful moving forwards into the summer term is a summer hat! As the weather gets hotter we will be encouraging all children to wear these whilst outside at any time during the day. We are happy for these to stay at school if it easier.
Please let us know if there any problems or questions with the above.

Last reminder that we have our trip tomorrow morning! Please come into school wearing play bottoms - shorts will be fine if the weather is warm - and school tops. Thank you.

Finally, for those of you that weren't there this morning I would like to say a big thank you to all you lovely people; parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and anyone else that has helped us along the way this year! The support you have shown this year has been fantastic and we could not be as successful as we have been, without you. It is not the end yet and I am very excited for all the things yet to come this year!

Reception - Welcome back... Summer is Here!

Image result for summer

Hi all,

Welcome back to what promises to be an activity packed, rewarding, tiring, fun, exciting term. It is the final term. It is difficult to think back to September and that first day, but I encourage you all to do so, just to realise how far every single has come in that time. It is remarkable. Not just the maths and literacy progress; independence, self-regulation, perseverance, behaviour, maturity and many more.
This week there are 2 points to remember:

1. Parent information session will be on Thursday (sorry, I had put this as Wednesday which was a mistake) at 9.00am in the school hall. If you want to find out a bit more about the term or have any questions that need answering, please come along. Please come along if you don't too!
2. Our trip to the farm is this Friday. A letter went home before the Easter Holidays. Please can children wear school tops and play bottoms that you wouldn't mind possibly getting a bit muddy. If anyone is available to help then please let us know!

Welcome back everyone!
