A question!

At the Christmas performance I had a parent speak to me in hopefully donating/creating an object for our garden, notably a bird hide or another wooden item. Could that parent please contact me when they have a free moment please?

Either by the school office or via class.

Many thanks,

Clare Mewett

Reception - Farm trip tomorrow

Image result for reminders

Hello everyone,

Just a quick reminder that our farm trip is tomorrow morning. As we are having a bit of a cold snap at the moment, could you please ensure that children have jumpers/coats in school as well as appropriate footwear. Children can come to school wearing play bottoms and the school top. Thank you!
Another couple of reminders; the reception parent information session is next Tuesday 2nd May at 9.00am in the hall. I will discuss what will be happening this term. Also, our beach trip has been booked for Wednesday May 10th. A letter will be coming home regarding this tomorrow so please watch out for this as we will need a signed permission slip to allow your child to go. If anyone is available to help with this trip then please let us know - thank you.
Finally, we are going to be lucky enough to have a follow-up visit form the RSPB on Friday this week where we will once again be exploring our school grounds by completing certain activities. If you would like to leave your wellies in school on Thursday for this then please feel free to do so.

Reception - Welcome back!

Image result for welcome back!

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to the third and final term in reception. I do not know where the year is going! I hope that you have all had a restful break! Listening to some of the places visited and things done in the holiday it sounds like you've all had a very nice time!
We start the term with a typically busy week! Tomorrow we are lucky enough to be visited by a representative from the RSPB! We will be using our school grounds for this. If you get the opportunity to bring in some footwear that can be worn outside tomorrow that would be very helpful! If you do bring some wellies into school tomorrow please feel free to leave them in school until Thursday; as this is the day of our trip to Maiden Castle Farm! If you are still able to help with this trip then please feel free to stay on Thursday morning and walk up with us! Additionally, if you are able to to help this time, please stay too!
We made a small start with our new topic this afternoon. This will be The Seaside! We have our trip to the beach in a couple of weeks and lots of learning will be taking place up until then!

Reception - Egg rolling

 Image result for egg decorating

Hello everyone,

We have had some great fun today building up to Easter celebrations by decorating an egg and then rolling it! There were some brilliant decorations going around! We then used some piping to build tracks for the eggs to roll down! The children all enjoyed this greatly and even when the eggs got cracked they carried on rolling them... literally until the egg split in half! Even then some weren't deterred! If you can smell eggs in the classroom, you'll now know why!

Reception - Growing, Spring and Easter

Related image

Hello everyone!

An update on what we have been up to and what we will be getting up to in the last week of the term! On Friday we made a trip over to pre-school to see some special visitors! The children got to see some tadpoles zipping around in their water tank as well as some hen eggs that are currently sat in an incubator. As we have been learning about Spring and all the things that change around this time of year we will be re-visiting the tadpoles and eggs to see what is going to happen! In literacy we have been learning about writing an explanation to describe HOW something happens or works.
We will be carrying out another Big Write! This week on Thursday with an emphasis on writing an explanation for how tadpoles or eggs change. A Big Write! Encourages children to write a piece largely independently, using the tools and knowledge that has been taught in the weeks previously. Any discussion that you can have at home will be very helpful in this respect as before we write something we have to know what to say first!

Also this week we will be continuing with subtraction/take away/minus/less than! Using Numicon to help us. We will give an introduction to the Easter story and the meaning behind this. We have already had an assembly from Reverend Jo explaining why Christians celebrate Easter.
PE kits will be coming home on Friday as well as some tired children needing a couple of weeks to rest!
