Farewell for the summer

Hi all,

We made it to the end! All the children should be extremely proud of their efforts throughout the year and I'm sure you will agree that the amount every child has grown in character and ability is phenomenal. Without your support a fraction of this would have been possible so thank you to everyone at home for their support - long may this continue! From myself and the team, the class were brilliant to work with; always willing, extremely good humored and very persevering. We will all miss the class and wish them and you the very best of summers. Relax and enjoy a well earned break.

Finally, THANK YOU for all the kind gifts that we received yesterday, we genuinely didn't expect a fraction of this so thank you! 

P.S - Mr. Bump is looking forward to a nice long holiday.............. and a bath.

Teddies Tomorrow!

Hi all,

Congratulations to all the children who won an award today in the awards assembly. It was very hard to choose between children as they have all excelled at something throughout the year! Tomorrow is the last day of the year! As a bit of a treat we have asked the children to bring in one teddy for the day that they can play with. I look forward to seeing them all! At the end of the day tomorrow, children will be coming home with anything that belongs to them that is still at school. You will have received PE bags today. I will certainly have my tissues to hand at the end of the day! 

You may have noticed that we dug up our carrots and potatoes yesterday. We have a lot of carrots so if anybody would like a bag please come and ask us!

Hi all,

Just a quick one: Thank you very much to all the Grandmas ad Grandpas that came to the breakfast this morning. It was very well attended! It did get a bit crowded at times so thank you for moving around the classroom and using the outdoor area. I hope you all enjoyed yourself! Bacon sandwiches tomorrow.

A few bits and pieces for the last week

Hello again,

As we near the end of the week I thought it would be useful to put up a few things that we will need to do before we leave on Friday afternoon. 

• Sound pots - we have begun to take these in but if you still have yours at home please could you give it to us or pop it into your child's book bag for us to collect. 
• Group reading books - last weeks book was the final book for the year and we will be collecting them in this week. Please could you make sure they are in your child's book bag. 
• Library books - you are still welcome to take out library books before the end of term but could we please ask that any library books that you have borrowed are scanned back before Friday. 
• Art folders - most of these went home today - I hope you enjoyed looking trough them. If not, we will give them to you in the morning or at pick up one day before Friday. 
• Learning journeys - these will stay in school and will go with your child up to year 1. You will then receive these after a few weeks once the year 1 team are comfortable with the children. 
• PE kits - our last PE session will be on Thursday so we will be sending these home on Thursday for the summer - we will not them back in school. 
• Home learning diaries - these are for you to keep. 

I hope all this makes sense. If you have any questions, please come and ask us. On Friday we will be inviting children to bring in one teddy to school for the day. More information to follow regarding this.

Grandma and Grandpa's breakfast...

Hello everyone,

Hopefully you are all aware that tomorrow is our first Grandma and Grandpa's breakfast! We will be opening the doors at the normal time of 8.45am and you will be more than welcome to stay and have something to eat and drink as well as have a tour of the classroom and play games. Learning journeys will also be available for the children to look through with grandparents. The only thing we will have to stop to do is the register. As I've mentioned before, if grandparents are not available, parents are more than welcome to stay! We will be looking to finish at about 9.45am but please don't feel like you have to stay for the whole time if you have other things to do! I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

A Sizzingly success

Hello everyone,

It was great to see so many people at the Reception/Pre-school BBQ yesterday afternoon. Thank you for chatting to the new parents and making them feel welcome. We just about managed to get there with the food - even though the BBQ went out! Finally, thank you for the entertainment that we were given: fantastic.

Next Monday (13th July) will be open afternoon. This is an afternoon where the school is open from 2.30-4.00 and you may come in to look at your child's work in reception - art folders and learning journeys will be out. It will also be an opportunity for you to go with your child to the year 1 classroom and meet the new members of staff that will be working with your children next year. If you do leave with your child, please let us know so we are aware where they are. Thank you!

BBQ on Wednesday

Hello all,

This Wednesday is the Reception & Pre-school joint BBQ. We have been busy making burgers and will be making kebabs ready for the coals on Wednesday. On Wednesday afternoon it will also be the first time the new reception class will be together (I'm sure you can all remember that). At 3.30pm We will send the children out to you - pre-school parents will also be present so it will be very busy. I'm sure there will be opportunities for you to tell some of the new parents what they're in for next year! Once you have collected your children, feel free to head round to the reception playground and grab yourself something to eat. It may take us 5 minutes to get the food going out. We will put out some chairs and rugs for you to sit on so please feel free to spread out. 

We have also got some fantastic entertainment lined up too. I won't ruin the surprise.

Granny and Gramps breakfast

Hello everyone,

In the final week we will be having a special breakfast morning where we will be inviting all nans, granddads, grampas, nannys, grandmas and pop pops. Lots of grandparents have contributed greatly this year but even if we haven't seen you, it will be great to meet you! 

On Tuesday 14th July we will open the door at 8.45am and you will be welcome to come in and have some breakfast! Children will be able to show their grandparents around the classroom if they have not been before and sit down to look through learning journeys. There will also be a selection of foods and drinks available. 

It will be great to have lots of grandparents but mums and dads will still be welcome if grandparents are unavailable. More information will follow.

Bump-up Afternoon...

Hi all,

Tomorrow is bump-up afternoon! All the reception children will get to go in to their new classroom and meet the new adults that they will be working with next year - when they are year 1! The children will return to the reception classroom at the end of the day so you will pick up as normal - there will also be an opportunity for you to get to meet their new teacher!

I can't believe how quickly the time has gone this year. It will be quite emotional I'm sure. However, we have many more exciting things to do in the remaining weeks.

As part of a very fun, inspiring and busy week, we are launching a competition of an "old favourite"..........part 2!!!!!!!!!

Extreme Reading is back................BIGGER and BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take a picture of you reading in the MOST Bizarre, weird and wonderful place!!!!! E-mail it, if possible to the school office, FAO Mrs. Dukes! There will be a prize for the winner from EACH year group! Please can all entries be in school by Friday 10th July 2015!
