Reception Weekly Round-Up: Our Most Active Week Yet!

 Hello reception Families and Friends,

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend enjoying this lovely weather! 

It has been an absolute whirlwind of energy, creativity, and sporting in Reception this week. Following our EYFS curriculum, the children have been developing their gross motor skills, teamwork, and expressive arts in some truly fantastic ways.

We have fully embraced physical development this week with an incredible lineup of activities:

The Whole-School Bikeathon

The children brought their inner racers to life, zooming around the school track on bikes, trikes, and scooters. Thank you for helping them bring their wheels to school!

Sports Day Success

Everyone cheered beautifully during our running races, egg-and-spoon races, obstacle courses, and sack races. We wrapped up the day with some brilliant family games. A huge, special thank you to the brave parents who took part in the parent races. The children loved cheering you on and did not stop talking about it throughout the day!

Inflatable Sports Course

On Thursday, the field was transformed into an inflatable sports arena! The children were absolutely buzzing with excitement as they tried out three brand-new sports. They practiced their patience and precision with golf, tested their aim and hand-eye coordination while shooting hoops, and showed incredible control during a game of curling. It was wonderful to see them cheering each other on and trying things they had never done before!

Kickboxing & Tennis

We rounded out our sports focus on Friday with two fantastic sessions. In the morning, we participated in a kickboxing workshop! The children learned how to follow fast-paced sequences, channel their focus, and practice safe, controlled movements. In the afternoon, we slowed the tempo down just a bit to master our tennis skills, practicing our grip, balance, and how to track a moving ball.

Mud, Paint, and Creativity

Forest School Wednesday

We took our shoes and socks off for a barefoot sensory walk! The children loved exploring different textures underfoot, from soft grass to squelchy mud.

The Roundhouse Project

On Thursday, the children became architects and artists. They designed and painted their very own section of the school roundhouse. We are looking forward to you seeing this later in the week!

Get Ready to Dance!

We have been working incredibly hard learning our special class routine for Dance Day. We want to make it perfect, so please use the video linked below to practice the moves together at home!

A Gentle Reminder: Read Write Inc. Books

We are currently having a few issues handing out our weekly RWI reading books as a large number of them are still missing and haven't been returned to school. Could we politely ask that you check under sofas, bookcases, and toy boxes this evening? Please return any school books as soon as possible so we can rotate them and ensure all children have a book to take home. Thank you for your cooperation with this!
