Dear Parents, Families and Friends,
What an action-packed two weeks we’ve had in Reception – it’s been superhero central here, and your incredible children have truly risen to the challenge with energy, curiosity, and creativity!
Art That Packs a POW!
We began our superhero journey by diving into the colourful world of Roy Lichtenstein, the famous American pop artist known for his comic book style artwork.
Real-Life Heroes Visit Reception
Friday was extra special as we welcomed some real-life superheroes into school! We had visits from a doctor, physiotherapist, and police officer, who spoke to the children about their important jobs and how they help people every day. The children asked thoughtful questions and left feeling inspired – some are now determined to become helpful heroes themselves one day!
Emergency Vehicles and Imaginative Play
Using recycled materials (thank you for all your generous donations!), we channelled our inner inventors and engineers to build our very own emergency vehicles. From speedy ambulances to soaring rescue helicopters, the creativity was fantastic and the teamwork was heartwarming to watch.
Super Sports at Miniballers
Our MiniBallers sessions have had a sporty superhero twist too. The children have been building their athletic skills – running, jumping, throwing and catching – all in preparation for our upcoming Sports Day. We’ve even begun practising some cricket basics, and the enthusiasm is infectious!
Science: The Mystery of Magnetic Powers
In Science, we’ve been exploring how magnets can help make superheroes "fly"! With wide eyes and excited giggles, the children experimented with different materials to see what would attract or repel. We talked about forces and had fun testing our superhero figures on magnetic tracks.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support. These last two weeks have been full of learning, laughter, and wonder – just the way Reception should be! We’re incredibly proud of each and every child for the way they’ve embraced our superhero theme (and super learning powers!), showing us that kindness, creativity, and curiosity are the real superpowers.
Wishing you all a wonderful week – and don’t forget to ask your child which superhero they want to be when they grow up!
With best wishes,
✨ 🦸♂️ Miss Godden and the Reception Team 🦸♂️✨
