Reception - Phonics

Image result for phonics

Hello everyone,

This week in phonics we have been carrying on with the sounds of the alphabet. However, next week, we will begin learning sounds that have two and three letters together. This is when phonics does become more complex. There will hopefully be a session for parents to attend very soon! More information to follow! Below are the sounds we have been learning this week...

'w' as in wind - Blow on to open hand, as if you are the wind, and say wh, wh, wh.
'x' as in box - Pretend to hold a camera and click the button down, saying ks, ks, ks.
'y' as in yell - Pretend to be eating a yogurt and say y, y, y.

We have also been learning some tricky words over the past couple of weeks. These are words that cannot be sounded out using phonics and need to be learnt by sight in a lot of instances. We've out the first few below for your information.
