Goldilocks and the three bears...

Hello everyone,

We have started a new topic this week: Goldilocks and the three bears. We read a retelling of the story today and throughout the week we will be looking at alternate versions as well as thinking about the question 'What kind of character was Goldilocks?'
In literacy this week we are going to be having a go at writing some apology letters to the three bears - we will be encouraging the children to sound out words so any practise at home would be appreciated. In maths this week we are looking at shapes - more specifically the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. We'll also be tasting some different porridges as well as making a map for Goldilocks because she gets lost in the woods (Oh no!).
In phonics this week we are continuing to consolidate the sounds we have learnt so far as well as beginning the next phase at the end of the week. The only sound we are learning this week is:

'j' - as in jug - The action is holding your hands out in front of you and pretending there is a wobbly jelly on them

Children have also come home with their reading eggs usernames and passwords today. This is a great website for children to learn and practise literacy skills and it is in the reception section on pupil links. If you would like any help finding it come and speak to us.
