A BRILLIANT START TO SPRING TERM TWO

Although Miss Godden is currently in Kenya visiting our link school (we can’t wait to hear all about her adventures), Reception have been in very safe hands with Mrs Willsher, who will be teaching the class for the rest of the week. The children have made her feel incredibly welcome.

We were so impressed with how brilliantly everyone came back into school – settled, enthusiastic and ready to learn. It was wonderful to see such independence and positivity straight away.

The children quickly immersed themselves in their learning through continuous provision. There was fantastic teamwork in the construction area, imaginative storytelling in the role play, careful mark-making and some super mathematical thinking happening across the classroom. It was a joy to see the confidence with which they revisited routines and expectations.

This morning we were also treated to a very exciting visit from Bugman, who helped us launch our brand new topic. The children showed tremendous bravery and curiosity as they met a range of fascinating mini-beasts. There were lots of wide eyes, careful hands and thoughtful questions. We talked about habitats, features and how to handle living creatures respectfully. The adults were especially proud of the children’s listening skills and sensible behaviour throughout the session.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed an art session linked to our new topic. The children explored different materials and techniques, thinking carefully about colour.

Well done Reception!

You have made us all incredibly proud today.

If this is how we’re starting the term, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings.

Miss Godden, we’re thinking of you in Kenya – Reception are shining back home!
