Hi Reception Families,
What a lovely first week back we have had!
This week we have launched our new topic Terrific Tales, our focus has been on the tale of Gingerbread Man!
On Tuesday we decided to help the Gingerbread Man by building him a bridge to cross the river and escape from the cunning fox! We planned our designs and used a magic 'button' to make them our models do something amazing!
We also explored making boats for him to cross the river, we discussed the importance of the boats being able to float.
In maths we have been focussing on counting to 8 and have been practicing using a 10 frame to help us count accurately.
Children really enjoyed their PE lesson with Coach Luca this afternoon and practiced their catching and throwing skills.
General Notices:
Our next Parent Information session is on Tuesday 10th January at 9:00 I warmly welcome you to attend this session, we will be focussing on our new topic/ theme, Read Write Inc and the introduction of our brand new Knowledge Organiser.
All children brought home a short fine motor activity home with them today, linked with our learning in Letterjoin. It would be beneficial for children to have the opportunity to practice this at home. Children can chose to colour the picture or continue to practice the pattern above the picture. If children would like to bring their picture back in to show us we would love to see them!
Some children have brought home books or sheets related to their learning in RWI this video shows the correct pronunciation of each sound.
We will discuss RWI in detail during the Parent information session.
Thank you for the safe return of books to love and reading records, we will continue to check these and issue new books to share on Friday each week.
It is unfortunately the beginning of chickenpox season, please refer to the letter sent by Mr Spracklen for details. Chickenpox
