What a wonderful morning we had at the farm. Hazel met us at the farm classroom and we found out about all the animals that live there. We also found out that there are lots of minibeasts that live on the farm too. Our first stop was to have a look around the farm; looking at different machinery, animal habitats and flora and fauna. We then made our way to the lambs where we investigated their wool and watched them feeding from their milk bottles. After this, we went to see the cows and found out that they are beef cows. They are also a bit mucky and we learnt that their cow poo and straw is used on the fields - it's called muck spreading and its very smelly! Finally we set off for the pigs. We fed them our leftover fruit peels from our snack! Before we knew it, it was time to walk back to school. The children were amazing and were on their feet the whole time. The muddy puddles were a big hit! I think we may have some tired children tonight! Thank you to the parents and volunteers that helped on our trip and to Mr Spracklen who came with us too. Mrs March really enjoyed her first trip to the farm with the class and can't wait to go again soon!
