What a fantastic, fantabulous, fun first week back!
The highlight of my week has been seeing our new bubble playing, carefree, on the field together at lunchtime!!!!!! To watch them all, so happy, you would never think these amazing children had ever been through lockdown!
The children have been fascinated by our topic so far...........ants! We heave learnt words such as colony, head, thorax and abdomen. We learnt that there is a queen ant and worker ants, baby ants are born white. We were interestedf to find out that if you weighed all the humans in the world and then all the ants in the world - the ants would be heavier! Wow! That shows just how many there are! We have been hunting for ants and wacthing them closely to see what they do and where they go! This week, we will be investigating ants further and learning about different types of ants!
On Wednesday afternoons we are taking our science learning outside and using the garden to plant, weed, pond dip and learn about animal care, with the help of Helen from Pre-School and her excellent expertise. On Friday afternoons we spend time at Forest School and will be investigating our Mini-Beast topic there as well as having time to ride balance bikes or bikes and scooters from home on the playground.
In Power Maths we are learning about repeating patterns. On Friday, children will bring Power Maths Workbook C home and I will tell you which unit to work on each week.
Reception are participating brilliantly in the Big Pedal! Keep up the good work this week - there is a Bike it Breakfast tomorrow for anyone who cycles or scoots to school, also the opportunity to get your bike checked over or repaired!
Reception parent information session is this Thursday morning at 9am in the school hall.
It is with a heavy heart that we say good bye and good luck to Mrs. Smith on Friday..............in order to celebrate Mrs. Smith's "shamazingness" the whole school is going to be able to wear their brightest, most shamazing outfit on Friday and make a donation to Mrs. Smith's chosen charity.
See you all tomorrow!
Mrs. J, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Hibberd and Mrs. Cura
