Welcome to the Summer Term, Reception!

 Hello Reception Families

Welcome back to the Summer Term. Hasn't this year flown by?

Firstly, thank you for the fabulous habitats that have arrived in school. There is still time to do one if you would like.

We have had a very busy 4 days back at school. We had a visit from Harold from SCARF who taught us about the magic word . . . yet. We might not be able to do something. . . . yet! This links with our learning power Reggie the resilient tortoise and the children have lots of experience of this already.

In maths we used a new piece of equipment called a rekenrek. It looks a bit like a mini abacus and helps us to learn to count, subitise, add and subtract. The children really enjoyed moving the beads and explaining their maths knowledge.

On Thursday the class had their first Forest School session where they explored the outside area, looking for risks and mapping the area out.

Please note there are a few timetabling changes for this half term:

Monday - PE. Please come to school in PE kit. As the weather warms up the children will also need sun cream and a sun hat for these outdoor session.

Thursday - Forest School. Every Thursday afternoon the children will have a forest school session. For this they will need welly boots, sun hat and sun cream that has been applied before school.

Friday - Don't forget reading records need to be in school every Friday!
