This week Reception had an amazing time joining in with POWs Space Week!
In Literacy, Reception have continued to study the book The Lights That Dance in the Night by Yuval Zommer. Using the illustrations from the book, Reception used a range of tools and mediums to create their own interpretations of the Northern Lights.
On Wednesday, Reception had the fantastic opportunity to enter the Space Odyssey Planetarium. We had lots of fun learning about the different planets, if humans could live off earth and some of the star constellations that are visible this time of year.
On Wednesday afternoon, Reception participated in a whole school science investigation where we look at which materials would make the best parachute. We then made our own and tested them to see if we could safely land our astronauts.
In maths this week, Reception have begun looking at number sentences and addition using the concrete resource cubes. Some children even challenged themselves to complete number sentences up to 10!
I would also like to say a huge thank you to the parents that attended our first Family and Friends Games Afternoon this week. It was so lovely to see many children demonstrate brilliant turn taking skills, problem solving skills and perseverance.
We look forward to seeing many of your again at the next Family and Friends Games Afternoon!
Thank you so much for another fabulous week and as usual, feel free to email me with any questions you may have.
